West SILC Vision for the Impact of PE and Sports Premium

All our students will be given the opportunity to participate in high quality PE and physical activity tailored to their individual needs both physical and emotional. All students will be given the tools to achieve a healthy and active lifestyle and to enjoy sport and physical activity on the appropriate level for their individual needs on leaving school.

Our Objective.

We intend to achieve our vision by ensuring impact against the following 5 indicators.

  1. The engagement of pupils in regular physical activity tailored to their individual needs- kick starting healthy and active lifestyles.
  2. The profile of PE and sport being raised across the whole school as a tool for school improvement.
  3. Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
  4. Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils.
  5. Increased participation in competitive sport.

Our most recent sports premium impact report can be downloaded below and on the policies and procedures page.

Yorkshire Primary PE and Sport Premium Awards

We submitted an application for the Yorkshire Primary and PE Sport Premium Awards, a joint initiative from the four Yorkshire County Sport Partnerships and Hallam Sheffield University, funded by Sport England.

There were a huge number of impressive nominations from across the county and the four categories were judged by a panel of experts at the beginning of April.  Due to the strength of our application, the panel decided that West SILC should receive a Highly Commended award in our category and winners are invited to the Yorkshire finals in Harrogate in June to accept our West Yorkshire award.

This is a real achievement and acknoweldges the dedication and hard work of Angela Lydon in our Farnley Academy partnership. We are very proud to have received our award and look forward to Angela bringing back the showpiece in June!
